As part of a long-term strategic partnership, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and German Cancer Aid joined forces in 2019 to establish the National Cancer Prevention Center. The ground-breaking ceremony on June 28, 2024 marked the start of the construction phase of a new building in Berliner Strasse in Heidelberg, which is scheduled for completion at the end of 2027.

The National Cancer Prevention Center is systematically expanding evidence-based and increasingly personalized cancer prevention throughout Germany. All citizens should benefit from this.
The National Cancer Prevention Center brings together all the key components of cancer prevention under one roof: from basic research and prevention studies to evidence-based advice for the population and further training for prevention experts and multipliers.
A central element of the National Cancer Prevention Center is a model facility that is unique in Germany: the Prevention Outpatient Clinic. In future, citizens will receive comprehensive, scientifically sound information and advice on cancer prevention and early detection here. They will also have the opportunity to take part in current cancer prevention studies.
